The captain of a Delta Air Lines regional jet involved in last month’s collision at New York’s LaGuardia Airport told
The UPS plane, which was bound for Honolulu, appeared to catch fire, exploding during takeoff at the Louisville Airport, causing a fiery scene, leaving 12 people dead, 15 injured and 9 people are still unaccounted for.
The UPS freighter that crashed in Louisville was a 34-year old jet. While that’s old for a passenger plane, that’s not so unusual in the world of air cargo.
"Prior to departure from New York LaGuardia (LGA), customers on Delta flight 2313 to Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) were deplaned and transported back to the terminal due to a potential security concern," Delta told BMTN.
Major airlines including American, Delta, and United have responded to the FAA's decision to reduce flights by 10% at 40 airports starting Friday.
