DUPO, Ill. – A pedestrian was killed in a crash Wednesday morning near Dupo, Illinois, according to Illinois State Police. The crash happened just after 10 a.m. Wednesday in the southbound lanes of Interstate 255. It happened around milepost 6 in Monroe County.

One person died and two others were injured in a head-on crash on Interstate 70 in Bond County Friday, Illinois State Police said. A cargo van was traveling east on I-70 and crossed the center median and collided with a westbound tractor-trailer at about 9:03 a.m., according to preliminary information collected by state troopers.

Two Southern Illinois University students from the Chicago suburbs died Monday morning in a truck crash downstate, Carbondale police said.

The semi driver, who saw the Cadillac heading his direction head-on, reportedly tried to avoid the crash by moving as far right on the shoulder as possible. Deputies say the Cadillac crossed into the semi’s lane and struck the driver’s side wheels on the trailer.

A man from Palatine was killed following a wrong-way crash Sunday morning in Wheeling.  Around 2:15 a.m., a car was headed west on Palatine Road near Wheeling Road, when a vehicle headed east in the wrong lane hit the car head-on,
