The departure of Israel’s domestic intelligence chief appeared to end his unusually public clash with the prime minister.

The head of Israel's domestic intelligence service said on Monday that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's attempt to fire him followed his refusal to fulfil requests that included spying on Israeli protesters and disrupting the leader's corruption trial.

Israel’s spy chief, Ronen Bar, has claimed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is trying to fire him for his refusal to commit illegal acts aimed at protecting the leader’s personal and political interests.
