Ukraine struck a key oil terminal in the Russian port city of Novorossiysk overnight, causing infrastructure damage and igniting a blaze, as deadly overnight Russian strikes pounded Kyiv.
The long-range propeller-powered Lyutyi one-way attack drone has been a workhorse of Ukraine's deep strikes on energy infrastructure in Russia this year. The drone, produced by aircraft manufacturer Antonov, can fly more than 1,000 km.
In all, 25 locations across Ukraine, including the capital city Kyiv, were hit, leaving many areas without electricity and heating. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko said on Telegram that major energy facilities were damaged in the Poltava, Kharkiv and Kyiv regions, and work was under way to restore power.
Ukraine struck Russia's port of Novorossiysk last week, forcing it to suspend oil exports. The Neptune missile it used is one of several long-range weapons Ukraine has developed since the 2022 invasion.
