Thorpedo Anna won Horse of the Year honors at the Eclipse Awards on Thursday night, becoming only the second 3-year-old filly to beat male competition for the top trophy.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Thorpedo Anna is headed for a checkup at a veterinary clinic after the reigning Horse of the Year finished a surprising seventh in her return to Churchill Downs.

Thorpedo Anna, who won the 2024 Kentucky Oaks and earned Horse of the Year honors, will run in Friday's La Troienne at Churchill Downs.
