Supercell thunderstorms and tornadoes brought devastation to several central states earlier this week, and the danger is far from over.

The storms also produced exceptionally large hail. One 6-inch diameter hailstone measured in Kankakee, Illinois, may be considered for a new state record.

Friday’s severe risk targets the Midwest to the Plains and includes some of the same areas hit hard yesterday. A squall line will likely develop from Iowa all the way into Texas Friday afternoon and evening.
