Russia targeted Ukraine with a record 728 drones early on Wednesday, hours after U.S. President Donald Trump pledged to send more defensive weapons to Kyiv and aimed unusually sharp criticism at Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Trump is openly voicing his frustration with Putin as Russia intensifies attacks while the U.S. tries to broker peace.

In what Kyiv described as the most extensive aerial offensive since the start of the war over three years ago, Russia launched a massive barrage of drones and missiles targeting western Ukraine, far from the active front lines.
