There is a growing signal for winter weather across the Southern U.S. for the coming weekend. This could include at least parts of North Carolina on Saturday.
Bitter cold weather will stick around Maryland through Tuesday before a slight warm-up later this week. Tuesday will be an Alert Day due to the freezing temperatures. Temperatures for the rest of Monday will feature a less harsh feel.
Typical January conditions will dominate the first half of the week, but extreme cold and the potential for a disruptive winter storm loom on the horizon.
ATLANTA — For the second weekend in a row, Georgia could be facing more winter weather. “With cold air coming in from the north and tropical moisture moving in from the south, this is the kind of pattern that can lead to winter weather across the southeast,” Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brian Monahan said.
