Winter storm warnings have been issued to five states across the U.S. by the National Weather Service (NWS), as it warns that up to 35 inches of snow and high winds could hit parts of the country from Tuesday, January 6, lasting until Thursday, January 8, in some cases.
A pair of storm systems sweeping across the country this week will bring snow, ice and thunderstorms, forecasters said.
The Great Lakes and Northeast bore the brunt of nasty winter weather as lake-effect snow piled up near the shores of Lake Superior, Lake Erie, Lake Michigan, and Lake Ontario. Winter storm warnings stretched from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to western New York.
The National Weather Service issued an updated winter storm warning at 4:15 p.m. on Monday valid from Tuesday 4 p.m. until Thursday 10 a.m. for South Central Oregon Cascades.
