Authorities say a freight train derailment and fire have forced the closure of a key east-west interstate trucking route near the Arizona-New Mexico state line.

A freight train derailment on the east end Steel Bridge is causing sweeping MAX-line delays around Portland Monday morning as the bridge remains closed to all traffic.

A freight train derailed at the east end of the Steel Bridge early Monday morning, the Portland Police Bureau said. There were no injuries reported. The bridge was closed to all traffic for several hours.

A total of six cars were involved; two of them were empty lumber cars that fully derailed, and four other cars partially derailed.
