Yankees captain Aaron Judge didn't start Tuesday night in Toronto after being in the lineup 22 games in a row and 45 of 46.

When Aaron Judge is out of the lineup, it shows. After suffering a torn ligament in his right, big toe on June 3, the New York Yankees outfielder was sidelined for 42 days, and the team suffered in his absence.

Manager Aaron Boone said it's not yet time to talk about shutting down the slugger, who has hit .211 with 12 homers since returning from injury on July 28.

"My understanding is no," Aaron Boone said. "I've kind of felt that way for a while. The belief is that it's gone about as well as it [could] since he's come back."

What about Aaron Judge? Under normal circumstances, seeing Judge out of the lineup at any point would be criticized and questioned. He gives the Yankees their best chance to win, he’s the player that fans want to watch and he’s the captain,

Yankees manager Aaron Boone reiterated Tuesday that slugger Aaron Judge is not expected to require offseason surgery on his ailing toe. Judge was sidelined for 42 games after tearing a ligament in his right big toe when he crashed into the right-field fence while making a catch at Dodger Stadium on June 3.

Aaron Judge wasn’t specific when he spoke on Sunday, but he was blunt. “We got a lot to work on, a lot of things to change, and a lot of stuff going on around here that needs to be fixed,” the Yankees captain said after his team was eliminated from postseason contention with a week left to play in the regular season.
