More than a dozen U.S. states and the District of Columbia have filed lawsuits against TikTok on Tuesday, alleging the popular short-form video app is harming youth mental health by designing its platform to be addictive to kids.

A bipartisan group of 14 attorneys general from across the country filed lawsuits on Tuesday against TikTok, alleging that the platform has “addicted” young people and harmed their mental health.

The suits, which were filed individually by 14 attorneys general from both parties, come as TikTok has exploded in popularity in recent years as both a source of entertainment and news.
