The jury deliberated for more than eight hours starting before ruling in favor of Zachary Young in his defamation suit against CNN.

News network reached a deal with Zachary Young as it was facing potentially tens of millions of dollars in punitive damages.

CNN settled a lawsuit brought by a US Navy veteran over a 2021 segment on evacuations in Afghanistan on Friday, hours after a jury found the network liable for defaming him.

The jury foreperson in Zachary Young’s defamation victory over CNN said she was prepared to award "up to $100 million" in punitive damages before an undisclosed settlement was reached.
