Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy returned to the ice Tuesday in a non-contact jersey, skating with his teammates for the first time since mid-February. Just six weeks ago, the defenseman was hospitalized and spent four days there with a rapidly spreading shoulder infection that left his season in doubt.

Charlie McAvoy finally joined his Bruins teammates on the ice this week for the first time since suffering a scary infection in February. It’s too late to help Boston on the ice, but McAvoy knows he needs to help build something for the future.
