Webb Telescope Spots Atmosphere on Super-Hot Super-Earth
Janssen was discovered via the transit method in 2011, meaning it passed directly in front of its star from our perspective. Minute dips in light output from the star gave away its presence, which is also key to how Webb detected signs of its atmosphere. The team, led by JPL's Renyu Hu, used a technique called secondary eclipse spectroscopy.
