NEW YORK (AP) — If there are rock stars in philanthropy, Darren Walker, the president of the Ford Foundation, is one of them. And he's about to exit the stage.

Heather Gerken, current dean of Yale Law School, will be the Ford Foundation's next president. Gerken, a constitutional law and democracy expert, succeeds Darren Walker after his 12-year tenure.

"I extend my warmest congratulations to Heather Gerken as she prepares to lead the Ford Foundation into its next chapter," said Darren Walker, outgoing president of the Ford Foundation .

Darren Walker will step down as president of the $16 billion Ford Foundation by the end of 2025. Walker has served as president for the past 11 years, said a July 22 release.
