Google has succeeded in overturning a $1.7 billion antitrust penalty handed down by the European Union back in March 2019.

Europe's second-top court on Wednesday backed Alphabet unit Google's challenge against a 1.49 billion euros ($1.66 billion) antitrust fine imposed five years ago for hindering rivals in online search advertising.

Google lost its final legal challenge on Tuesday against a European Union penalty for giving its own shopping recommendations an illegal advantage over rivals in search results, ending a long-running antitrust case that came with a whopping fine.
