A Houston police officer was shot Saturday morning in Sharpstown after an exchange of gunfire that left a suspected burglar dead, the police department said in a social media post. The shooting happened near the 6900 block of Harwin Drive,

HPD said as officers were arriving at the scene, the accused shooter was pulling out in a truck and led the officers on a brief chase.

A man is dead and another person is in the hospital after a shootout in the 4300 block of Sherwood in northwest Houston, police say.
