The West Asia conflict expanded to include Iran-backed militias on Monday with an attack by Hezbollah on Israel. Israel struck back against the group in Lebanon while the United States pounded targets in Iran.

It comes after the Israeli military said it was launching a "broad-scale new wave of strikes" in the country. It previously targeted the airport on 4 March, saying its strikes dismantled defence and detection systems that were a threat to the Israeli Air Force, which included the helicopter manufacturing section of the airport.

Iran's foreign minister rejected the idea of a ceasefire or new talks with the Trump administration, and said Iran is prepared for the possibility of a U.S. ground invasion.
