Attorney General Ken Paxton is warning Bexar and Harris counties that he will sue if they move forward with proposals to mail out voter registration forms en masse to residents. Despite the threat, Bexar County commissioners voted on Tuesday to move forward with the effort,

Bexar County officials on Tuesday voted to move forward with the mail registration plan, despite the lawsuit threat from AG Paxton.

The move comes amid controversial raids and investigations Paxton's office launched to sniff out alleged voter fraud.

Paxton also used the letter to further condemn what he called the "Biden-Harris administration's open border policies," saying that Texas has "ballooning noncitizen populations" that he suggested the county's voter registration mailer efforts would target.

Paxton sued Dallas and state fair officials last month, arguing the fair’s private organizer had violated state law by banning firearms on the fairgrounds.

Paxton's office withdrew a 2016 opinion ruling government entities — like Dallas — are not liable when private businesses ban guns on government-leased property.

With less than a month to go until the deadline to register to vote in Texas, Attorney General Ken Paxton continues to target the issue of voter registration while civil rights groups express concern over the potential impact of his efforts.
