Kilauea volcano began shooting lava into the air once again Tuesday on the Big Island of Hawaii. Kilauea, one of the world's most active volcanoes, has been erupting on and off for nearly two months since it burst to life on Dec.

Kilauea, located about 200 miles (320 kilometers) southeast of Honolulu, is one of five volcanoes that make up the Big Island of Hawaii. The volcano's summit is about 4,091 feet (1,247 meters) above sea level.

The USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory raised the volcano’s alert level from “advisory” to “watch” and its aviation color code from yellow to orange.
