More than half a century since the original jumbo jet "shrank the world" to transform commercial aviation, the last ever Boeing 747 is being delivered, marking the start of the final chapter for the much-loved airplane.

Boeing bid farewell to the iconic 747, delivering the final plane to Atlas Air on Tuesday afternoon and marking an end of an era when the first-ever "jumbo jet" ruled the skies.

Boeing revealed back in 2020 that it was going to end 747's production after it was done building the last orders for it.

The final plane is the 1,574th built by Boeing. It was sent off in a ceremony attended by thousands of current and former employees.
