With credit card interest rates hovering near a record and mortgage rates only slightly down from their highest point since 2000, the consequences of this week's rate cut are hoping to be widespread.

Mortgage rates on 30-year rates crossed a major threshold, declining to their cheapest level since early 2023. 15-year mortgage rates also dropped sharply, eclipsing the previous 19-month low.
