President Donald Trump’s foreign envoy Steve Witkoff said Tuesday that he’s hopeful to have a Gaza ceasefire deal by the end of the week, as negotiators make substantial progress working through remaining issues.

The two confronted an array of high-stakes Middle East issues. But first they took a victory lap, including the Israeli leader telling President Trump he had nominated him for a Nobel Peace Prize.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu touched down in Washington on Monday to discuss U.S. diplomatic efforts in the Middle East, including Israel-Hamas cease-fire negotiations. The trip’s centerpiece will be an evening meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House.
