The pilot of the private jet that crashed early Thursday morning in Tierrasanta, killing all six people on board and injuring eight people on the ground, did not declare an emergency or call in any type of mechanical issue with the plane before it clipped a power line and slammed into a residential street, federal authorities said Friday.

A plane headed for the Phoenix-Goodyear Airport landed in a cornfield nearly 9 miles east of the airport. Crews were dispatched at about noon May 23 after hearing reports of a plane crash near 99th and West Southern avenues, the Phoenix Fire Department said.

A plane crashed at Terre Haute Regional Airport around 2 p.m. Thursday north of the runways, near State Road 42 and Chamberlain Street.

A small plane crashed in dense fog in a Tierrasanta neighborhood early Thursday morning, presumably killing all six people on board, injuring eight people on the ground and burning several cars and homes in military housing.
