KYIV, Dec 6 - A large-scale Russian drone and missile attack damaged power facilities in eight Ukrainian regions, causing blackouts and forcing nuclear power plants to cut power output, officials and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said on Saturday.

A major Russian drone and missile attack struck a railway hub near Kyiv overnight, damaging a depot and train carriages and forcing cancellations across the region, according to Ukraine’s state railway operator.

Russian drone ‍and missile attacks hit energy ‍infrastructure in eight Ukrainian ‌regions overnight, causing blackouts, ⁠Ukraine’s energy ministry ‌said ​on Saturday.

"The enemy attack on Kyiv is ongoing," Kyiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said in a post to Telegram early Tuesday local time.

Tens of thousands of people were left without power and heating in southern Ukraine after Russian attacks on the frontline city of Kherson and Ukraine's largest seaport, Odesa, authorities and a top energy provider said on Thursday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that some of the proposals in the U.S. plan to end the war in Ukraine are unacceptable to the Kremlin.
