South Korean investigators asked prosecutors to indict the country’s detained President Yoon Suk Yeol over his short-lived imposition of martial law last month, as it accused him of rebellion, abuse of power and obstruction of parliament.

South Korea's anti-corruption officials on Thursday requested that prosecutors indict impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol for insurrection and abuse of power for his short-lived martial law declaration.

The president and his legal team denied allegations that he had sought to target lawmakers during his brief declaration of martial law in December.
