A federal jury in Tennessee on Thursday convicted three former Memphis police officers of witness tampering stemming from the beating death of Black motorist Tyre Nichols, but cleared them of the most serious charges that could have resulted in life in prison.

While acquitted on the most serious charges, three officers were all convicted on at least one count Three Memphis officers on trial in connection with the death of Tyre Nichols were convicted on charges related to the fatal 2023 beating but were acquitted on the most serious counts.
