Prices in UK stores are rising at a record pace as the cost-of-living crisis shows little indication of easing.

British shop price inflation picked up this month to reach its highest rate since industry records began in 2005, although growth in food prices cooled slightly, a survey showed on Tuesday.

Prices at U.K. stores in the first week of May were 9% higher on year, a new record high, but food inflation slowed slightly, as lower energy and commodity costs started to ease.

"The continued move higher in shop prices in the UK offered a reminder that inflation remains sticky like glue, though there was a glimmer of hope as the surge in food prices eased just a touch," Russ Mould,
