Israel continued waves of heavy airstrikes in Beirut after Hezbollah began firing on Israel in support of Iran. Nearly 85,000 people have been displaced, according to the Lebanese government. The Israeli military has also started a ground incursion into southern Lebanon,

The Israeli military said troops advanced to protect border towns from Hezbollah attacks, spurring fears that the government is weighing a wider ground war.
The Iran-backed group’s new leader Naim Qassem had said in a televised address last month that they are ‘not neutral’ in the standoff between Washington and Tehran.
