US producer prices rose 0.2% last month on higher energy costs - MSNThe Labor Department reported Tuesday that its producer price index — which tracks inflation before it hits consumers — rose 0.2% last month from November, down from a 0.4% gain the month before.
U.S. wholesale prices rose modestly last month from a year earlier, another sign that inflationary pressures remain mild.
On a monthly basis, the headline CPI rose 0.3 percent, which was in line with forecasts. Core CPI rose 0.2 percent versus an expected 0.3 percent.
The consumer price index, excluding the often volatile food and energy categories, increased 0.2% from May, according to Bureau of Labour Statistics data out Tuesday.
