Around two dozen Democrat-led states have sued the Trump administration over its refusal to preserve vital food aid threatened by the government shutdown.
Democratic leaders are suing the Trump administration for ending food aid programs during the shutdown. They argue, despite the administration's claims, there are emergency funds available.
“The Trump administration has repeatedly expressed a desire to diminish FEMA’s role and shift the burden of emergency management to the States, thus reverting to an inconsistent patchwork of disaster response across the Nation,” the states said in the complaint.
