The National Weather Service issued an updated winter weather advisory at 9:48 p.m. EST on Monday in effect until Tuesday at 7 a.m. EST for Berrien County.

Several states are bracing for severe winter weather this weekend as forecasters from the NWS issue warnings for snow and ice.

Bay, Saginaw and Tuscola counties are under a winter weather advisory from noon to 10 p.m. Sunday due to cold temperatures, gusty winds and lake effect snow banding.

On Monday at 3:51 p.m. EST the National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory valid from 7 p.m. EST until Tuesday 1 a.m. EST for Chippewa County.

Snow accumulations of up to one inch are anticipated for portions of north central, northeast, and northwest Georgia.

In some regions, the NWS warned that the hazardous conditions could affect the commuters on Monday, as travel may become difficult or even impossible during periods of intense snowfall.
