Cold weather alerts are affecting 69 million people from the Midwest to the Gulf Coast, while 5 million people face new flood watches in the Pacific Northwest.

The advisory warns of very cold wind chills between -5 and -15 degrees, with elevations above 5,000 potentially reaching -20 degrees. The NWS states that wind chills of this temperature could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken.
