LONDON — SpaceX's Starship will be a game changer for space-based solar power generation and will make orbiting power plants not only affordable, but cheaper than many other methods of generating electricity on Earth, according to Michigan-based start-up Virtus Solis.

Meanwhile, SpaceX is preparing to conduct the fourth Starship Flight Test. The vehicle’s components, Ship 29 and Booster 11, are currently back at the Starbase Production Site to undergo final work before a potential rollout, integration, wet-dress rehearsal (WDR), and launch.

NASA says SpaceX is on track to demonstrate in-space refueling of Starship next year, a critical technology for returning humans to the lunar surface.

However, SpaceX can use its experience in flying Dragon capsules to the International Space Station, which requires many of the same types of laser navigation sensors and mechanical devices necessary for Starship dockings.

A start-up aims to revolutionize clean energy by harnessing unlimited solar energy from space. To make this futuristic idea a reality, Michigan-based start-up Virtus Solis aims to use SpaceX’s Starship.
