    Coldiretti, one of Italy’s biggest farming associations, last year began campaigning for a ban on cultivated meat, which it said threatened the future of Italian farms and put the country’s food chain at risk. Its campaign secured more than 2mn signatures, and the support of 3,000 Italian local and regional governments.
    Italian MPs have voted to back a law banning the production, sale or import of cultivated meat or animal feed, in what the right-wing government calls a defence of Italian tradition. "Italy is the world's first country safe from the social and economic risks of synthetic food," said Agriculture Minister Francesco Lollobrigida.
