Full Sun (At Least 6 Hours Of Direct Sunlight)Mature Height 10 - 12 FeetMature Spread 2 - 4 FeetGrowing Zones 5 - 9Garden Sun™ is one of the absolute easiest and the most hardy climbing roses available. This climber quickly reaches its mature height of 10-12 feet to cover a trellis, pergola, or other garden structures with a blanket of flowers. The wonderfully fragrant apricot-colored flowers are large and bloom nonstop through the summer with little maintenance. Garden Sun™ also has high disease resistance, with the dark green foliage looking as good early in the season as it does late in the summer.Climbing roses are an essential part of any cottage garden design, providing cut flowers for the house and rose hips later in the summer for wildlife. Good companion plants for Garden Sun™ Climbing Rose are peony, salvia, hydrangea, and viburnum. Deer are not known to browse on the thorny stems of climbing roses, although they might nibble a few flowers in bud. Garden Sun™ is not an evergreen shrub, but the structure of branches and rose hips will remain in the winter and add interest to a snowy garden. Garden Sun™ Climbing Rose CareClimbing Roses require full sun and well-draining soil, like bush roses. They perform best in rich soil with a neutral pH. Regular mulching in the spring with 2-3 inches of organic compost will improve not only the nutrition of the garden soil but also keep the root zone cool and moist. Supplemental fertilizing with a slow-release granular rose food will promote heavy blooming and a robust root system. Apply in the early spring according to the manufacturer's recommendation.Garden Sun™ Climbing Rose couldn't be easier to prune. There is no deadheading required since this rose is self-cleaning. Structural pruning should be done in late winter to keep the plant in check; tie any new growth to a trellis or other framework to train the branches. Garden Sun™ blooms on old or new wood, so there is no danger of removing flowering shoots in the winter or causing flowers only to appear at the top of the branches. No extra winter protection is needed. Garden Sun™ can be grown in USDA growing zones 5-9.Garden Sun™ Climbing Rose SpacingClimbing roses not only get tall but also tend to spread out from the base. The mature size for Garden Sun™ is 10-12 feet tall and 2-4 feet wide. Most climbers are planted as specimens with companion plants spaced out 2 feet from the base of the rose. Position the planting hole at least 1 foot away from any foundation or patio area to provide enough room for a strong root system.Garden Sun Climbing Rose InformationUSDA Hardiness Zones: 5 - 9Plant Type: BushesLight Exposure: Full Sun (At Least 6 Hours Of Direct Sunlight)Mature Height: 10 - 12 FeetMature Spread: 2 - 4 FeetSpacing: 2 - 4 FeetHabit: ClimbingFlower Color(s): YellowFlower Description: Bloom Period: SummerFoliage Type: DeciduousFoliage Color(s): GreenFoliage Description: Seasonal Interest: Spring Flowering, Summer Flowering, Fall FloweringWatering: AverageResists: DiseaseTolerates: N/AAttracts: Bees, ButterfliesContainer Role: Uses: Borders, Containers, Groundcovers, Hanging Baskets, Mass Planting, Specimen or Focal PointFeatures: Attracts Pollinators, Cut Flowers, Fragrant, Low Maintenance, Continuous Blooming or RebloomerBrand: | Shrubs > Flowering Shrubs Plant Addicts 1012774-pc
