A Proven Winners ColorChoice Flowering Shrubs variety, Weigela Very Fine Wine is a deciduous perennial shrub offering spring through autumn interest, blooming late spring. This dense, freely branching bush is primarily grown for its gorgeous dark purple foliage but it's a heavy bloomer, setting tons of tubular rosy-pink blooms. An excellent landscape plant, Very Fine Wine, it has good vigor and a compact, upright, rounded, dome-shaped habit. It is an excellent specimen in garden or container but is shown to best effect when grouped or massed in beds and borders. Cold hardy to Zone 4 and easy to grow, weigela grows best in sunny to partly shady locations with moderately fertile, moist, well-draining soil but tolerates clay soil. Weigela Very Fine Wine has good tolerance to wind and rain and is deer resistant.
