USE:Camellia sinensis is used to make products for cooking, cosmetics, landscape-garden use to making tea, tea oil, etc. SOIL: camellias need to grown in acidic soil. TIME:Camellias are best planted in autumn while the soil is still warm to encourage the roots to establish before winter sets in. The Camellia sinensis is an evergreen, frost-resistant, woody and strongly branched shrub.These tea bushes are usually pruned at a height of 0.80 to 1.2 meters. This creates a lot of twigs and branches with buds and young leaves. The leaves are 5 to 35 cm long, thin, slightly hairy on the outside, leathery and dark green with a serrated margin. The plant has a taproot with many runners on the surface. The flowers appear in the leaf axils in winter. They are 2.5 cm tall and creamy white with many yellow stamens. Reproduction is by seeds from the capsules. Camellias are best planted in rich, moist soil in a part-shade location. If planting multiple camellia shrubs, space them at least 5 feet apart. They do not like to compete for water and nutrients with trees in close proximity. Know the mature size of your camellia, and plan accordingly if planting close to a window or home foundation.
