Description

Oenothera missouriensis is hardy, long-lived perennial that gives a beautiful display of color. Commonly, it is called Dwarf Evening Primrose, Missouri Evening Primrose or Ozark Sundrops. It has lovely saucer-shaped yellow blooms that are 3 5 inches across. They open in the late afternoon and whither in a day or so. Dwarf Evening Primrose looks wonderful spreading through a rock garden or planted in front of tall shrubs. It is recommended to start Evening Primrose seed directly outdoors in the spring after danger of frost has passed. Prepare a seedbed, press the seed into the soil and do not cover it. Keep the seed moist. With a temperature range of 65 - 70F, germination is usually within 28 days. Grow Evening Primrose in full sun and in well-drained soil. Space plants 12 - 16 inches apart. Approximately 5,750 seeds per ounce.
