DRESS DETAILS Evidence of Couture touches in hand-sewn beadwork, hem/facings Structurally sound light to medium weight Ivory brocade fabric Sculpted A-Line silhouette Darted Bust Three-quarter length sleeves Beaded panels down front tunic-styled bodice - 2.5 inch wide Beaded panels around neck & sleeve cuff - one-inch wide Smooth working 19-inch back zipper topped with eye/hook closure Fully lined in a silky ivory acetate In the wake of WW11, European fashion markets dried up - paving the way for Canada to become an export market for Paris design houses. The 50s & 60s saw certain Canadian Department Stores housing instore boutiques seasonally offering French haute couture private labels to a wealthy clientele. Le Petite Salon was one such boutique within a store (Dupuis Freres). Some of its Montreal competitors would have been 'The Salon Vendome' at Simpsons, 'The Ensemble Shop' at Eatons, 'The Fur Salon' at Ogilvy and Holt Renfrew. I don't know how, but this amazing vintage Mini Dress has survived years of history with barely a scratch. Looking for someone to unleash the next chapter of its sure-to-be exciting life. CONDITION We use Vintage Fashion Guild's Condition Chart Guide. See Shop Policies in the ABOUT section. Excellent - Used with no noticeable flaws. Fabric structurally sound. A small barely visible fade mark on right shoulder. (See Photo 6) Miraculously, most of the extensive beadwork appears to be intact. I couldn't find any missing. No holes, tears. Inside lining clean throughout. Very wearable. Presents beautifully. Era: 1960 Brand Label: Shedlack Mfg.
